About Simon Mills

Experienced Educator I have worked with learners in secondary and primary phases as well as Preparing and delivering bespoke CPD and sessions in community adult learning contexts. I have been a curriculum lead for ICT for over 25 years and am currently employed on a sessional basis as an ICT Lecturer, Entry Level and Essential Digital Skills, ECDL, Functional Skills programs to Apprenticeship colleagues.. Beyond my school based roles I have also worked at LEA level in support roles and been employed as an IT consultant within an Education Action Zone. I have worked with industry and creative partnerships to plan and deploy e learning based solutions as well as leading creative digital curriculum and media projects. My post Graduate qualifications are to Masters level, and I have presented my classroom and academic work for audiences at local, national and international education and IT related conferences. My work has been published academically in journals and informally through blogging where I have used Social media as a platform to share my own work as support for colleagues and used the media to support interactions within a virtual PLN.

The Project involved 11 Primary schools and a Hub Secondary School in the Hartcliffe and Withywood area of South Bristol England, working in partnership with industry colleagues from British Telecom and ICL. ICL and BT developed and provided the Network Infrastructure, Hardware and Software for the project while the University of Exeter, provided academic support and evaluation for the project. As IT Cordinator and school Lead Teacher, I lead the internal planning and implementation process within my school to fit needs and purposes of our curriculum. I also Planned and implemented support and CPD programmes for colleagues involved in this ambitious and unique project.During the project I worked to Develop and implement topic/theme based SOLs to support cross curricular embedding of IT.Acted as a liaison between colleagues from industry within the project management process.
