Held strategic and P&L responsibility for the group's BCC supply chain model, implementing a plc board approved strategy to develop direct sourcing of private label products. During the five year period the role involved the establishment of a logistics hub in Shanghai, and latterly the redevelopment of an existing group facility in to a UK distribution centre. Extensive business travel throughout the far-east, middle-east and Europe during this position has provided an invaluable insight in to global supply chain.During my tenure with Grafton I was appointed to and represented the group as a member of the pan-European WIM Co-Operative Procurement Board.

Developed and implemented the supply chain strategy that saw an overall margin increase in excess of 10%. Margin gain was mostly achieved through far-east sourcing, funded by improved control of domestic supplier payment terms. Inevitably the business attracted interest from a number of parties, with Grafton Group plc succeeding in acquiring Plumbworld in December 2006, Having achieved my goals with Plumbworld I decided to resign to seek other challenges and was offered a position with Grafton Group plc 4 months later, prior to the end of my notice period.

Joined Deva as a product specialist, covering thermostatic control. Offered the position of National Account Manager, with responsibility for their largest account Wickes. At the time revenue was in decline and Deva were in danger of losing the account. Formed good relationships with the category managers at Wickes, developed the strategy that successfully brought us through the Wickes tender process in 2000 and delivered record gains in revenue and margin for both businesses in 2001-2003. Succeeded through thinking 'outside the box' and persuading other managers/directors at Deva to agree to providing in-house sourced displays and using our internal staff for merchandising and store re-fit for the range review. The result was brilliant and won Deva supplier of the year for partnership two years on the run. Following management changes at Deva, I accepted an offer to become the Trading Director at Plumbworld in September 2004, and was held on garden leave until January 2005.

Joined RWC from Peter Cox Group. The link was through a London Council that we were carrying out water hygiene work for had decided to start a project to fit thermostatic controls to all of their care homes, which brought me into contact with RWC. Appointed Area Sales Manager for Manchester & Lancashire, later extended to include the West Midlands. Transformed the area form being second from bottom to being the second highest for revenue and the highest for product margin in the company.

Employed as the Branch Manager, Stockport, specialising in water hygiene (prevention of Legionnaires Disease).

Worked for my fathers company for a short while, which wasn't the best move I've ever made! Still it gave me additional experience and an understanding of the oriental floorcovering market.
