FacilityONE Technologies is the next generation of the company I worked for from 2003 to 2011. Since then, most applications were rewritten in Python using the Google Polymer framework and migrated to MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. The business model is still based on physical asset mapping and work order management. Through the SMARTPRINT technology, customers are able access fully interactive blueprints online, generate work orders, and report critical facility information on cloud based platforms from mobile or desktop clients. My roles included developing Google Polymer components in Python, designing and deploying database schema, tables, and securing RESTful API interfaces. Our team migrated all of the remaining dependencies from the legacy SQL Server database to MySQL and PostgreSQL with zero customer impact. I also lead a team of 3 full time co-op students from UofL Speed School who were tasked to develop a lightweight, offline, documentation application specifically for use on a tablet. The program we developed was a tremendous success, saving the company hundreds of hours during the customer implementation process.

For the first year at Appriss I worked on their Victim Notification Services (VNS) team, which supported software for various Department of Justice agencies, including the FBI, BOP, ATF, and USMS. They deliver solutions which notify and provide information services to victims involved in Federal court cases. I was then able to assist the Justice and Risk Solutions team in updating their JusticeExchange and RiskCheckNow products. Most recently, my efforts have been focused on compliance applications, including a brand new product to track and report the sales of scrap and recycled metals.

FacilityOne hosts a graphical user interface used to document, assess, and manage a building's infrastructure and systems. Like many small businesses, resources were limited, so we often changed roles. As the Senior Software Engineer, I designed, maintained and enhanced Java applets and web services. I also developed PHP and ASP web apps containing VBScript and JavaScript. There were also many opportunities to administrate SQL Server and MySQL databases. Sometimes as a Project Manager, I supervised small teams of co-op students and part-time employees. Most of my projects involved the primary user interface, a Java Applet, which included enhancing the original electrical system based product to support multiple subsystems, creating a printing interface, and enabling GIS mapping.

My main responsibility was to design and develop proprietary email software in Perl, Java, and PL/SQL. These applications were used to interface into an Oracle database of subscriber data used to send millions of email newsletters. I managed several projects encompassing the full software development life cycle. My daily activities involved maintaining production systems and developing new Java applications, Servlets, Perl, and PL/SQL code. During development, I used a variety of tools and testing frameworks like JUnit and MockObjects. The mission critical utilities and functionality, which I helped produce, enabled the technology through which most of their products were delivered.
