I am a highly motivated problem solver and decision-maker with nearly 50 years of media experience. I learned the industry from the ground up, starting as a radio DJ and working through news and sales to become Vice President and General Manager of WYMT, a multi-platform station serving Eastern Kentucky.My philosophy is one of servant leadership. Helping others is my passion. I have a proven track record of identifying and developing talent. I thrive on helping people achieve their personal and professional goals.Utilizing my leadership skills and sales experience, I successfully implemented major upgrades, grew profit margins, expanded news coverage, and created WYMT’s social media strategy. I led our team to win WYMT’s first Emmy and Telly Awards. WYMT’s newscast was voted Best Newscast in Kentucky multiple times by the Associated Press. WYMT.com was also voted Best Website in Kentucky numerous times by the Associated Press. Our news team has won multiple individual awards from the Associated Press and the Kentucky Broadcast Association. During my time at WVLT, our management team successfully implemented a turn-around strategy resulting in record low expenses, record high revenue, and the highest news ratings in the station’s 50-year history. Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Stephanie, cheering on the UK Wildcats, and cooking on my Big Green Eggs. I am proud to serve on the following boards: Alice Lloyd College, One East Kentucky, One Harlan County, East Kentucky Leadership Foundation, Kentucky Wildlands, Harlan Independent Schools Education Foundation, and the Laurel County Center for Innovation PAC Advisory Board.Past board service includes The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky, The Center for Rural Development, the Young Professionals of East Kentucky Advisory Board, and the Kentucky Associated Press.
