For this role I am switching gears from software development to hardware/IT support. I work on the team that maintains KCScout. Scout is the joint MoDOT/K-DOT group that monitors and displays traffic information about the highways surrounding the metro area. The organization's goals are to increase driver safety, improve incident emergency response times and get you where you are going.I am providing workstation support, handling Cisco networking hardware and assisting the data center manager with tasks as my skill set grows though classes and OJT. It is a big learning curve but the folks I work with are awesome and want to help me succeed.

Had the opportunity to create and update installers for deployment on some of ScriptPro's suite of pharmacy automation applications. Got the chance to learn and use Advanced Installer to make MSIs, and had some exposure creating custom WSUS updates. (Who knew that MSIs could do so much!)I also became more familiar with the Git & TFS source control packages in Visual Studio.[I was a contractor through Insight Global]

Had the chance to develop multi-language desktop applications to guide customers through their map update installation process using interesting technologies like C++, C# and Windows Installer XML (WiX Toolset). The fun thing about this position is that there were a variety of projects that ranged from 1 week to 6 months so you always have something new to work on.

A multiple-hat position where I created everything from architectural framing drawings to landscape, civil, electrical drawings & detail schematics. I also got to participate on a field survey crew for a time.

Roles ranged from project support staff to discipline lead drafter developing drawing standards and symbol libraries. Produced power, lighting and instrumentation drawings while coordinating with designers, engineers and other discipline groups.

Assisted the instruction of an introductory C++ class for the Bachelor of Professional Studies - Computer Technology program. I helped students with program debugging during the lab portions of the class and offered supplemental instruction when requested.

One of my first 'real world' positions. My major project for the summer was to work on the design of the MU Football Stadium concession areas and commissary remodel. I was also able to work on the Anaheim Angels Stadium remodel and the Utah Grizzlies Arena. Exciting stuff for an intern.
