About Sofia Martimianakis

For as long as I can remember, storytelling has been my passion. As part of the national Marketing and Communications team at Girl Guides of Canada, I ensure communications are seamless, concise and always aimed at reaching caregivers, girls, volunteers and external stakeholders however and wherever they get their information about Girl Guides of Canada in Ontario and Nunavut. One of the aspects I enjoy most about my role is that I have the opportunity to collect and amplify member voices through qualitative data collection and analysis. I help build and implement collaborative campaigns that involve key stakeholders early in the process. I was raised by two talented storytellers who immigrated to Canada from Crete, Greece. My creative writing draws on my Greek heritage and summers spent abroad. My poetry, nonfiction, and photography has been published in a variety of literary journals, and I released "Island Life to City Life" as part of Heinemann’s Shared Reading Collection. Currently, I write picture books, graphic novels and I’m working on a fantasy adventure novel for young adults. When I’m not writing…I'm an avid hiker who loves chasing sunrises and misty mornings. I enjoy baking almost as much as I like photographing my creations. I actively contribute to my community through various volunteer roles, and I appreciate the little things. I'm always happy to connect with fellow writers and marketing and communications professionals.

Listed skills include Copy Editing, Research, Public Speaking, Data Analysis, and 12 others.
