Sofia is a computer engineer who has been coding since 2008. Languages include: C++, C, Embedded C, VHDL, Verilog, HTML, as well as a proficiency in Spanish and casual level of ASL. Sofia loves working with people but can fare well on her own when needed. While studying at SD Mines, Sofia gained years of experience in a lab, giving her a hands-on proficiency with plenty of equipment such as Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Waveform Generators, as well as writing in a lab notebook up to IEEE standards. This experience will make it easy for her to walk into a lab and use the equipment with little to no additional training. With a minor in Systems Engineering, Sofia understands how to work within a bigger system as well as work with others to create a bigger picture. Sofia founded the martial arts club at South Dakota Mines because she loves to help, work with, and teach people.Sofia is not afraid to seek help when she needs it, and she is not afraid to give assistance when it is asked of her. She loves to be a team player and support everyone so that the whole group can achieve great things. Sofia prioritizes good communication above all else which leaves her often giving a lot of the presentations as well as documentation which has often been complimented by teachers and team members alike. She believes that good code should be readable, easy to understand, and replicable just from comments and documentation alone.Sofia chose to pursue a Bachelors in Computer Engineering out of a passion for the subject that still holds strong to this day.
