As a Registered Nurse at Queensland Health, I work across highly specialised areas, ICU and ED. I excel in clinical practice, patient advocation and maintain high standards of evidence-based care. I am responsible for establishing and evaluating the patient’s plan of care in partnership with the patient, their family and a multidisciplinary team of health care providers.

As a Clinical Research Nurse, I was responsible for assisting in the coordination and supervision of staff and participants within the clinical unit to ensure that clinical trials are conducted in accordance with ICH-Good Clinical Practice, Sponsor guidelines and Centre for Clinical Studies standard operating procedures. My duties included performing clinical procedures and assessments according to the approved protocol requirements and ICH-GCP. I administered investigational products, prescription and concomitant medications via all routes. I conducted procedures such as vital signs, ECG's, blood collection, blood processing as well as adverse events and data collection. I was heavily involved in the education of new and existing staff and worked as a nurse in charge in the clinical unit, working within a higher scope of practice. I was also appointed unit team leader for COVID-19 management.

As an intensive care nurse, I provided excellent, high quality care to patients with a wide variety of complex diseases. My responsibilities included assessing and monitoring my patients’ conditions, administering treatments and medications, and providing support to patients and families throughout recovery. I effectively collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and pharmacists to create and implement patient-centred care plans.

The GradPlus Program is a twelve-month program that allows newly graduated RNs to have the opportunity to put their educational experience into practice in a supportive environment. The GradPlus Program provided me with an opportunity for professional and personal growth in the field of nursing. My rotations included cardiovascular surgical, general medical, and plastic and reconstructive ENT wards, where I gathered varied and valuable experience in my role as a RN. My responsibilities included ensuring a high level of quality patient care by promoting best practice, continuing my professional development and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. I was awarded a HESTA Graduate Award for Excellence for my exemplary performance during the GradPlus Program.
