In partnership with the Public Health Institute and the California Department of Public Health, the CAHD Public Health Residency Program aims to transform the public health workforce through training, capacity building, and direct placement of professionals at local health departments. I will complete my one-year placement as a Management Fellow with the San Diego County Health and Human Services Department, Public Health Services in the Tuberculosis Control and Refugee Health branch.

Latino Students in Medicine at USC aims to help guide Latino Pre-Medical and Pre-Health undergraduates to become successful professional school applicants. LSM's ultimate goal is to increase the representation of Latino students in the medical field, in an effort to mitigate the lack of Latino healthcare providers in the industry. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, Our mission is to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control over their future.The Safety and Wellness Unit at the IRC San Diego ensures that refugees, asylees, SIV (special immigrant visa holders) with unique emergency and/or long-term needs have the support necessary to integrate into their new communities and become self-sufficient.

The Office of Binational Border Health (OBBH) facilitates communication, coordination, and collaboration among California and Mexico health officials, health professionals, and communities in order to optimize binational and border health. Working alongside San Diego County Public Health Officers, we aim to research and establish health screening options for refugee, asylum seekers, and undocumented individuals in San Diego County.
