Sofia researched and investigated Episode 5 of "USA v. Garcia Luna" with producer Victoria Estrada, obtained new and relevant information and interviews, and co-bylined a long-form article about Genaro García Luna with executive producer Peniley Ramírez. During García Luna's federal trial, Sofía co-produced six episodes in English and six in Spanish with producer Juan Diego Ramirez. Weeks later, Sofía produced "Uvalde Rising," a Latino USA audio documentary about the deadliest school shooting in Texas history to date, with journalist Reynaldo Leaños Jr. For this collaboration with PBS's FRONTLINE, Sofía also wrote an investigative article about mothers from the Uvalde massacre and other school shootings in the U.S. Simultaneously, she produced an episode about healing in Uvalde for Futuro's political podcast "In The Thick." Finally, Sofía was vital to the field reporting trips for a new investigation about sexual abuses in ICE detention centers with producers Roxanne Scott and Roxana Aguirre, a project for which Sofía also wrote a reporter's notebook documenting her personal experiencing as a professional listener.
