About Solomon Peachy
I am a generalist with extensive experience solving problems in the trenches. My skill set is broad and varied, with an emphasis on the sorts of problems encountered in embedded systems and concurrent networked environments.I am comfortable doing high-level design of software and hardware interfaces; both prototyping and the necessities in making something production-ready; quality assurance, benchmarking, and performance analysis; RF system-on-chip bringup; being parachuted into a customer location for on-site debugging; and much more.I am able to effectively liaise between hardware and software teams, translating the needs and concerns of each to the other, and also acting as a stand-in or advocate for customer needs. If a task requires skills I do not have, I see that as an opportunity to further broaden my knowledge and experience.
Listed skills include C, Embedded Systems, Device Drivers, Bluetooth, and 21 others.

Senior Software Engineer
Software lead on a research team seeking to radically redefine the future of medical imaging, utilizing bleeding-edge Xilinx RFSoCs and making heavy use of advanced signal processing techniques. It was a small team, so I had to wear many hats, but my primary responsibilities included developing PetaLinux BSPs and device drivers for our custom hardware , maintaining our researcher-friendly self-hosting PYNQ prototyping environment, and tending to our CI/CD tool flows.
Senior Software Engineer
In April 2015, ARM acquired Sunrise Micro Devices. My duties from SMD largely carried over, although they shifted more towards support and advanced troubleshooting, reflecting the maturity of our product family. New duties include: * Representing ARM at industry standards groups. * Helping to define current and future product development, evaluating different approaches to hardware/software boundaries and interfaces and their relative performance and complexities. * Engineering support for internal and customer silicon bring-up. * Mentoring junior team members.
Senior Software Engineer
SMD was funded to develop a low-power Bluetooth Low Energy controller subsystem, delivered as licensable IP. I was the only software resource on board for the first eighteen months, and as such my duties were rather varied. * Software lead for the CORDIO BT4 product, defining and implementing the firmware architecture. * Helped define overall system architecture, especially at the software/hardware boundaries. * Created and implemented software/hardware co-verification strategies in both the analog and digital realms. * Helped define and implement production testing methodologies. * Assumed a leading role in IC bringup, for both internal engineering vehicles and customer silicon. * Unofficial liaison between internal engineering teams. * Constructed miscellaneous internal tools.
Software Engineer
As "The Software Guy" at an engineering services company, I constantly juggled a variety of tasks, including contract engineering work, internal product development, sales and customer support, and miscellaneous IT tasks. * Created Board Support Packages for new single-board computers, including porting Linux, bootloaders, and creating new device drivers where necessary. * Developed independent 802.11 (WiFi) protocol stack and device drivers for FreeRTOS, eCOS, and Linux. * Ported FreeRTOS to new hardware based on the STM32 family of microcontrollers. * Performed feasibility studies and other sales engineering tasks. * Developed automated regression and production testing systems, including the use of GPIB-connected instrumentation. * Transitioned Sagrad to a continuous-integration model for software development, as well as other process improvements. * Developed software to support internal business and production needs. * Helped maintain the Engineering IT infrastructure.
Software Engineer
As one of two employees of an embedded systems/software firm, my responsibilities could be summed up as "do what needs doing". * Developed a full-featured cross-platform IEEE 802.11 (WiFi) stack and device drivers for multiple chipsets. * Created Board Support Packages for multiple single-board computers, including porting Linux, u-boot, and device drivers as necessary. * Maintained a Linux distribution targeting wifi routers. * Designed and implemented a custom 900MHz Frequency Hopping MAC. * Ported computationally-intensive RF modeling and visualization algorithms to OpenCL. * Developed an automated platform for testing multi-node wireless networks. * Developed a high performance 802.11 sniffer capable of synchronized captures across multiple simultaneous channels. * Supported internal IT needs, including SCM and ticketing.
Software Engineer
Started out writing support tools and eventually became the liason between development and production, filling a role not unlike what is now called DevOps. * Developed tools for support, business reporting, configuration management, and service monitoring. * Developed and implemented deployment and management procedures * Team lead on Incanta's signature Music Service, improving scalability and reliability while enhancing the overall user experience * Authored a secure peer-peer communications platform * Designed and implemented a secure, distributed content delivery network * Designed a novel application of Dynamic DNS that was eventually patented.
