Always intrigued by new ideas and complex problems, I’ve often immersed myself in reading, practicing and applying them to projects. Developing a neural network self-parking car for my college senior project, fixing a memory-leaked recursive program by rewriting it iteratively, applying the then-newly nodejs programming language to a project, binary-streaming natural language translation in real-time using google voice and translation services, and insisting my team to observe rules of the road with the Kanban board were a few that keep me motivated in my profession.When I am not in front of my laptop, I am in the garage to hone my skills with my hand planners for a wood-working project, or in the kitchen preparing some of our Vietnamese traditional dishes or learning a new international recipe. My latest proud successes are French bread, Italian ciabatta and Indian naan. My playful Australia shepherd, Benley, is always next to me during these times.My current challenging learning is to design, using SketchUp, a 30 ft x 40 ft freestanding deck with a 24 ft x 24 ft truss-framed pavilion for my sister. It has been a fun and humbling experience to design a structure that can handle dead and live loads soundly.
