Projects with Lead PI Dr. Dillon FitchGender Analysis of Bikeshare Use in the Sacramento Region: Trip Purpose and Priorities (July 2020 - 2021)This past summer, I revisited a set of data from a previous survey of JUMP Bikeshare users in the Sacramento Region to conduct an analysis of the potential impacts of bikeshare on the gender bicycling gap that has previously been recorded in literature.Caltrans Active Transportation Programs Benefit/Cost Analysis (October 2019 - 2021)I worked as part of a research group reviewing scientific literature in order to extract outcomes for the creation a benefit/cost tool for applicants of Caltrans' Active Transportation Program. The corresponding white paper (currently out for review) gives a thorough overview of the potential behavioral effects and downstream benefits of active transportation programs and projects, including traffic safety, physical activity and related health outcomes, air quality effects, healthcare cost savings, destination connectivity, VMT and greenhouse gas emissions, and economic activity.Vision Zero Task Force Literature Review (July - October 2019)Our team did a literature review on the relationship between speed limit, actual speed, and traffic safety for all road users. The findings helped inform the work of California's Zero Traffic Fatalities Task Force, which was formed in 2019 by CalSTA in response to AB 2363. I reviewed and formatted white papers, research reports, and policy briefs from NCST researchers. As part of NCST's outreach, I generated content discussing modern issues in transportation and promoting the Center’s new research and events via email, Twitter, and LinkedIn. I frequently updated and maintained the Center's website, and other documentation such as proposals and progress reports for Caltrans and U.S. Department of Transportation grants.

Under the leadership of faculty mentors Dr. Susan Handy and Dr. Dillon Fitch, I used travel data from two waves of surveys conducted in the Sacramento Region to better understand travel behavior in California's capital and the surrounding areas. My analysis was part of a larger body of work that provided valuable information that will help cities create better plans and regulations to promote reductions in vehicle miles traveled through the use of bike and scooter share.
