Conducted an individual investigation in the Sloboda lab studying the impact of the gut microbiome on liver glucose metabolism in pregnant and non-pregnant mice. Leveraged RNA extraction from liver tissues and performed cDNA synthesis for the purpose of conducting qPCR to examine changes in gene expression.

Conducted research in the Whitney Lab, focusing on bacteriophage-encoded antibacterial toxins. Performed restriction enzyme cloning and expression of recombinant proteins to investigate protein-protein interactions. Used allelic exchange to produce genomic mutations in Enterococcus faecalis to investigate the function of bacteriophage-encoded proteins. Leveraged prophage induction to then isolate bacteriophages from bacterial culture and measure infectivity.

Worked with Dr. Fiona McNeill on researching the ability of lead compounds to pass through the skin and the light reflecting properties of white lead make-up using recipes from the 18th century. This research aims to determine if young women could have died from absorbing the lead in their makeup through their skin and what this makeup actually looked like when worn on a woman's skin.
