I conducted a quantitative research project titled “The Effect of Turbine Size of Voltage Production in a Small Scale Hydropower Generator" as a part of my high school's STEM program. For my project, I created a small scale hydropower generator and tested the effect of turbine size on voltage production. I had to learn and implement the design process and use a lab notebook to record daily logs of the work I conducted on the project. As a part of my project, I had to create different water turbine blades in CAD software, 3D print them, and test the different voltages produced by each turbine. I also had to solder a circuit that would allow me to store the voltage created and that would allow me to also recorded the voltage being produced at each instant of time it was being tested. In addition to this, I had to create a container that would allow my project to float in water and keep the circuits unexposed from the water. The paper is currently being edited for publish in the Journal of Emerging Investigators (JEI).
