CurrentWe at PURNATA aim to bring an end to Human trafficking through a Holistic approach. The whole purpose of Purnata is not to deal with the symptoms but to address root causes to bring a systematic change. Purnata attempts to establish a model that demonstrates potential for replication and an indicator-based intervention process to prevent and bring an end to Human trafficking. We work for the prevention of vulnerable individuals at risk of being trafficked and the rescue/restoration of trafficked women/children.India’s trafficking has a 90:10 % pattern – 90% domestic trafficking (intrastate and interstate) with 10% across international borders. So, in addition to being a source for trafficking, India is a major transit and destination country.TIP is a 9 billion USD business in India and perhaps the fastest growing illegal trade in the world. Only one out of 100 victims of trafficking is ever rescued.India’s sex Industry has about 2 million victims, 20% of which are considered children under age 16. The nature of TIP differs across all 28 states of India. Exploitation is seen in various ways – agricultural labour, bonded labour, domestic servitude, begging, organ trade, forced prostitution, entertainment, forced marriages, and child soldiers. Bonded labour and child marriages are a peculiarity of India. In India, a girl is reported missing every 8 minutes, approximately 16 million girl children are believed to be trafficked into the sex industryWe at PURNATA do NOT recognise this profession as work but rather as Exploitation of human dignity. The very reason for our existence is to End impunity for violence against women by investigating, prosecuting with due process and punishing all perpetrators, by ensuring that women have equal protection of the law and equal access to justice and by holding up to public scrutiny and eliminating those attitudes that foster, justify or tolerate all forms of violence against women and girls.
