Kanika Sood is a dynamic social entrepreneur who has cultivated a multifaceted professional persona, encompassing roles as a creative producer, marketer, educator, social designer, brand builder, business strategist, and sustainability educator. Her entrepreneurial journey began with establishing NIEV (Needful Initiatives for Environment Ventures) in 2011. NIEV is now a part of Seed Initiatives. SEED stands for Sustainability Education and Entrepreneurship Development Initiatives. Our aim is to bring sustainability education online through Courseed.org- a pioneering platform designed to educate and empower individuals and organisations. It was quite a challenging task to revamp NIEV so that it stays relevant and resonate with a new-age audience. She is currently building Humans of Hemp (HoH) India’s first hemp learning platform. HOH team is working with different members of the hemp industry to formalise a curriculum to propagate scientific temperament towards Hemp in India. She is also building a podcast and community with HoH. HEMPBIS is also an initiative of HoH where she heads the agribusiness research initiatives and development along with the renowned scientist Dr. Kshipra Misra who worked as Additional Director at Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), DRDO.Kanika's long-term goals are ambitious and transformative:• Integrating traditional farming with sustainable agronomy practices.• Fostering conversations with stakeholders, partners, and consumers to expand the hemp market in India.• Developing strategies to reform the regulatory framework for hemp cultivation and its industrial and medical uses.• Engaging with governments, investors, advocates, businesses, activists, and experts to enhance the hemp ecosystem.With a profound understanding of the Indian hemp plant (Vijya) its cultivation, processing, applications, and target audience, Kanika excels in identifying and exploring new opportunities in this domain. Her extensive knowledge of UN SDG’s and international hemp markets positions her to drive sustainable growth of hemp in India, aiming to empower research, development, and innovation in the Indian industrial hemp and medicinal cannabis sectors. Kanika firmly believes that collaboration is the key to progress and envisions spreading the therapeutic effects of Cannabis through Healing and Wellness experience centres called ‘The Vijya’.Currently pursuing her Doctorate degree from International School of Management, Paris, Kanika Sood continues to strive for sustainability and innovation in all her endeavors.
