In this position, I was fortunate to work alongside incredibly talented writers who helped develop my skills and taught me the art of the topical and promotional style. In addition, I also had the opportunity to shadow producers for commercials, promotional videos, and newscasts from start to finish. This included invaluable work through newsgathering, script writing, and the production process, where I shadowed the editing process on Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. This experience allowed me to exercise my prior knowledge of the craft of writing and editing as well as develop additional transferable skills, including communication, time management, and adaptability to ever-changing circumstances. It’s also given me the opportunity as an undergraduate to write and edit my own pieces alongside professionals to complete finished products aired on television.
