I am a doctoral candidate in Social and Cultural Analysis at Concordia University, Montreal. My research dives into navigating the interaction between transnational migration and the construction of masculinities among Bangladeshi men living in Canada. I have received a prestigious FRQSC doctoral scholarship to support my research, which aims to explore the intersections of migration, culture, and gender in shaping the identities and experiences of this marginalized group. My research builds on my previous academic and professional background in gender, development, and globalization, which includes a master's degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where my research explored the aftereffects of migration on the deconstruction of masculinity among Bangladeshi immigrants in the UK. My passion for gender studies began in my home country, earning me MSS and BSS degrees at the University of Dhaka, where I also taught as a faculty member from 2014 until embarking on this doctoral journey.With over four years of experience as a research professional at the Research Chair on Gambling at Concordia University, I also lead the research team on gender and gambling, applying my skills in grant writing, statistics, and qualitative data analysis. I have contributed to developing and disseminating evidence-based knowledge on gambling and its gendered social impacts, collaborating with academic, governmental, and community partners. Besides, as a mentor with Connect Concordia, I share my passion and expertise in social and cultural analysis with undergraduate and graduate students through academic advising.Beyond academia, I've gained valuable experience as a consultant with various international NGOs like ActionAid Bangladesh, NETZ Bangladesh, OXFAM, and USAID/Bangladesh. These experiences have enriched my understanding of gender dynamics and social issues, further fueling my research.
