Senior Graphic Designer, Publications And Marketing
CurrentI worked in two roles at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston simultaneously as both jobs were separate roles before I was hired.I. As the Senior Designer in Publications and Graphics: • Researches ideas and materials presented for exhibit and makes decisions regarding proper visual interpretation; recommends solutions to design problems; serves as a consultant regarding most effective design and techniques to produce desired visual effect and educational message.Assists in the design of publications; collaborates with writers, editors and other production staff to produce a coordinated finished product.• Recommends ways to meet exhibitions printing needs within budget limits for collateral needed. • Supervises installation personnel who assist in the construction and installation.• Due to unforeseen needs by the curatorial staff, many projects need tight turn around which include oversized in-house printing, drafting and cutting vinyl signage, installation of signage.• Performs related duties as required.II. As the Senior Designer in Marketing: • Work well as a key member of the marketing creative services team in a fast-paced environment.• Create for print and digital needs, knowing key principles that separate design standards between the two.• Experience in file-prep and management for print marking collateral (eg: poster, billboards, POP, flyers, brochures, booklets, t-shirts and more.)• Ability to review creative briefs and work collaboratively to ensure the strategy is clear prior to starting design work.• Develops, maintains and manages Museum wayfinding and general signage responding to identified needs and coordinating and implementing both design and content.• Ensures consistent use of brand standards across all platforms.• Works closely with the digital media team on select projects.
