If you were to meet me in person, you would notice how reserved and calm I am. I've always been that way since I was a child. I was taught not to panic during an emergency or scenario, but to step back and observe. To collect information and proceed with a solution. One of my former Division Officers from the military even once said to me after a nighttime emergency, "Spencer, I appreciate how rapidly you acted during the situation, but you were almost too calm, like you knew it going to happen." By staying calm and reviewing the given information in any scenario, my superiors knew that if I was going to complete a task, it would be done correctly the first time.Another trait you will notice about me is that once I get introduced to a piece of equipment, whether it's a pump or a valve or a complete operation system, I study it until I understand every facet of that system or equipment. I believe that's what contributed to my success as an Aviation Fuel's operator and repairman in the Navy. I would study repair manuals and piping diagrams until it was second nature. I also believe that gaining knowledge is the key to making yourself a better person. Everyone should learn one new thing every day. Whether it's about their job, their hobby or themselves. Once I separated from the military, I knew that furthering my education would help me succeed in the industry I wanted to work in. That's why I enrolled for an Associate's in Applied Science of Process Operations Technology. And by juggling a full-time job and a 45-minute drive to class three times a week, I received my diploma with honors in May of 2024. My next goal is to earn my Bachelor's in Enviromental Health and Safety with a focus in oil and gas.
