As a second rotation co-op, and first rotation with Zoll I gained experience with embedded Linux development, a SCRUM agile workflow, C++, and bash scripting. I learned about operating systems, and the C++ Qt library, how to program in a team environment and work remotely. I will be returning for a second rotation with them in Spring 2021. I will graduate in May 2021.

As a first rotation co-op at Siemens Energy, I worked on iOS and custom product design, Excel VBA, C# applications, and miscellaneous computer troubleshooting. I gained significant industry experience, travelled to a job site alone, interacted with corporate structure, and worked with other engineering disciplines to develop tools to make processes more efficient. I did leave the co-op after one rotation; I left on very good terms.

At the University of Pittsburgh, I am working under Dr. Renee Clark, in the Engineering Education Research Center. Here we are looking into different types of active learning, and teaching methods in order to improve the engineering curriculum. While Dr. Clark is part of the Industrial Engineering Department, the research works closely with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. So far I have focused on validating information, scholarly article review and argument development.

I have worked with my family's business (Dairy Queen) for the past four years. I have worked at multiple locations and focused on customer service and supervising employees. I have experience with two different POS systems, Micros and PosiTouch.

At this summer internship I focused on learning and helping. I mainly worked under an automation engineer who taught me how to organize tags (variables) for PLC's and HMI's, and design the interfaces that these systems were going to use. After I was taught those things, I moved onto learning how to read and translate Continuous Function Chart Programs and Ladder Logic Programs.
