Manages all nutritional needs for the entire museum’s animal care departments (bird & mammal, herpetology, and aquariums).Worked in cooperation with Bird and Mammal staff as well as other departments to achieve established facility/operational and AZA standards.Enhanced guest experience by interacting with museum visitors, providing engaging tours, and responding to inquiries. Managed and trained all new and existing volunteers in the bird and mammal department while integrating a new system with initiatives to retain volunteers in the future.Collaborated with suppliers to ensure all food deliveries and supplies for our department were delivered on time and to USDA requirements.Maintain adequate amounts of grain, produce, frozen prey items, meat, and fish for the department.Establishes and upholds workplace safety requirements such that volunteers will work in proximity to all taxa, which includes being near mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates are safe and do not touch, feed, engage, or enter enclosures unless instructed to do so.Ensures Bird and Mammal food preparation areas are clean, safe, and run efficiently. Worked alongside horticulture department to incorporate native plant species into animal diets.
