Responsible for managing the school’s four-person communications office, which handled almost all of the school’s internal and external communications, including advancement and admissions marketing materials, web and social media content, the alumni magazine, e-newsletters, push pages, informational and promotional videos, and various communications and speeches for the head of school.

While reporting directly to the head of school, I managed the school’s seven-person communications office, which handles all internal and external communications, including marketing and fundraising materials for the admissions and advancement offices, the alumni magazine, e-newsletters, blast emails, promotional videos, web content, and social media posts. Also responsible for media relations and developing strategic communications for the head of school. Key accomplishments included improving the school’s digital presence, expanding its use of video as a promotional tool, and managing the school’s responses to several sensitive public relations issues.

In a 12-person office, I led the four-person team responsible for managing the school’s media relations efforts and all its digital communications. During my tenure, I oversaw the development of award-winning websites and virtual tours and the creation of multiple social media venues, mobile websites, apps, and blogs. I also managed media relations and wrote and edited push pages and enewsletters.

As a freelancer, I wrote articles, case studies, ad supplements, and show preview guides for magazines, hardware and software vendors, and trade show producers. Also organized and moderated trade show events. Clients included Video Systems and CGW magazines; NAB, SIGGRAPH, and INFOCOMM trade shows; Avid Technology, Alias, Hewlett-Packard, Folsom, and VBrick.

This was a 50,000-circulation, monthly magazine for video professionals working in corporate, entertainment, and broadcast environments. During my tenure as editor, I revamped and redesigned the magazine, and succeeded in taking it from third place to first place in its market in just three years.
