Served as a graduate course assistant (CA) to facilitate course activities for CS 221: Artificial Intelligence Principles and Techniques and CS 161: Design and Analysis of Algorithms. Over my 6 terms in the role, my responsibilities included leading weekly problem sessions, writing quizzes and exams, advising student projects, holding weekly office hours, student communications, and one term as the Head Course Assistant governing all CA activities.

Worked on an exploratory data analysis and engineering project aimed at improving the relevance of search results over audio content using a data-driven approach. The project outcomes included a benchmarking service to measure search performance, a new search index with customized ranking logic based on popularity data, and critical data insights for future content initiatives at the company.

Worked to develop a new service that changes the way over 50,000 developers at Amazon access operational hosts with Secure Shell to better align with a new, decentralized security model. I developed the service from the ground up, including prototype, design, testing, deployment, distribution, security, and documentation.

Worked on a project that applied deep reinforcement learning to a continual learning problem consisting of a low-cost mobile manipulator learning to declutter toys left on the ground. I developed the robot learning system into a publication-ready platform by designing the system structure in ROS, working on numerous hardware upgrades, implementing the baseline policy for data collection, and designing the learning structure.

As a part of the UNC GAMMA lab, I participated in a project to develop a deep learning system that fused vision data with a novel application of impact sound to detect material and geometric parameters for scene reconstruction and virtual reality. I contributed to neural network design and optimization, as well as statistical analyses and baseline measurements on synthesized impact sounds. The project resulted in a paper published at ECCV 2018 titled "ISNN: Impact Sound Neural Network for Audio-Visual Object Classification".

Part of a team of Morehead-Cain scholars that spent the summer in a first-of-its-kind Civic Collaboration program that allowed us to lead a project evaluating and contributing to digital equity initiatives in Chattanooga, TN.We utilized design-thinking processes during a deep dive into the issue and produced an in-depth report, stakeholder roundtable, public forum, and website consolidating the city’s resources alongside a web literacy curriculum.
