I was responsible for coordinating admissions of SOLGEN and CSC clients being released to the residential treatment program on Day Parole/Bail/Probation from Provincial and Federal Institutions. I also attended Community Assessment Team (CAT) meetings to review CSC clients in order to determine their eligibility for the program with Guelph Probation and Parole. I regularly updated and maintained client case notes within the CaseWORKS database after every contact to keep a detailed timeline of events and communications from initial assessment to intake. Key responsibilities also included liaising with Provincial and Federal Institutional supports and other supports to book assessments for offenders, and periodically until a client’s admission was complete and utilizing the Offender Management System (OMS) database to assist in storing and reviewing clients’ cases.

My main responsibilities included building rapport and professional relationships with individuals accessing the shelter and deescalating verbal confrontations and assisting to prevent physical altercations I was also responsible for completing one-on-one intake interviews/paperwork for new participants as they arrive, ensuring the rules and guidelines of stay are thoroughly explained and understood and kept up to date shift logs regarding participants and any significant occurrences, to be passed along to the incoming shift.
