Due to the firm's growth, it was apparent that we needed further resources in our tax advisory department. Promoted from my previous role within the team, I continued to have a smaller portfolio of Tax Return clients as well as beginning to review work prepared by my colleagues and implementing new processes to improve the tax return programme to make it more efficient and easier to track progress on jobs.

Starting as a trainee straight from college, I began learning about tax by assisting my colleauges with basic Tax Return preparation and reviewing PAYE codes. After about a year, I was allocated my own portfolio of 400 mixed self assessment tax return clients. I was responsible for requesting/chasing the required information and the drafting the relevant tax returns, calculations and letters to the review stage.
