When I entered the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, I decided to take accounting courses because I loved working with numbers and marketing courses because I was always intrigued with how popular brands arrived at their marketing messages and enticed consumers to buy their products or services. In my final year of school, I focused on marketing courses to complete my degree. In 2003, I was hired as a Promotions Coordinator with the Winnipeg Free Press. Within two years, I had coordinated five of the largest promotions the company had ever undertaken. These promotions generated substantial revenue and allowed me to create budgets, supervise workers, monitor sales, and interact closely with multiple internal departments, as well as our customers.A few years later, I moved into the Research Analyst role in which I could combine multiple aspects of my university training - analyzing numbers generated by primary and secondary research, creating a strong marketing message based on that research, and evaluating results from those marketing efforts. Today, as the Manager of Data Insights and Audience Engagement, my focus is using data to attract new digital readers and keep those readers returning to our digital properties. When I am not in the office, I love learning about wine. I obtained the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines designation and have visited France, Spain, Italy, California, the Niagara and Okanagan Valley wine regions to pursue this interest. I've backpacked across Europe, travelled from coast to coast in Canada, visited many U.S. states, multiple cities in Mexico and several countries in the Caribbean. I look forward to the next adventure!
