Years of Experience: 29 years as a classroom teacher in Austin Independent School District, including 8 years of middle school experience teaching English/Language Arts, Newspaper, Yearbook, and Photojournalism, followed by 21 years teaching high school English, Cultural Studies/Film Appreciation, and a Senior Seminar Capstone course. In addition to teaching, I have served as an Instructional Coach for 15 years.Instructional Coach Experience: teacher support, facilitation of weekly professional learning community planning sessions for multiple teacher teams, design and delivery of campus-wide professional development, research/design/implementation of student learning expeditions (including local excursions and overnight, multiple-day travel experiences to out-of-state and out-of-country locations); financial planning and scholarship review for travel experiences; training and facilitation of project-based learning units; development of service-learning program and oversight of academy distinction awards.
