Principal Audio Lead
During my time at Codemasters I was responsible for directing the audio on several key titles such as Dirt, Grid, LMA Manager and Dragon Empires (MMO), as well as assisting on many others including the Race Driver and Colin Mcrae Rally Series.As Principal Audio Lead on Dirt, I was responsible for the overall audio direction of the game. I designed the bulk of the audio content and recorded a number of rally cars for the title.Working with the audio technology team I helped design and integrate a dynamic mixing system and real time reflection DSP. The majority of the game's audio systems that I designed were used in a number of subsequent Codemasters’ racing titles.I was also responsible for all the overall planning of the audio in DiRT, as well as organizing VO recording and several overseas car recording sessions. I helped coordinate localization and the QA audio testing plans.The component based collision system I designed for Dirt gained an entry into the Guinness Book of Records for gaming, having the most possible number of collision sound permutations to be found in any game at the time. Lead Musician And Sound Designer
Sound design work included a huge range of innovative audio including various animation and world based effects, real-time surround DSP on the Sega Saturn and a sophisticated component based audio system for Dogs of War. In terms of music composition, I had to prepare music in a wide range of styles, encompassing Orchestral, Folk, Funk, Rock,Techno, House, Big-beat and Drum n Bass. Owing to the unique capabilities of our in-house audio engine, we were able to create a wide range of interactive music 'chip' or sample based music as well as full production audio for CD/Streaming. My experience also included preparing music for the DirectMusic sound system.
