Director of Defensive Litigation for Harris County, Texas, the third most populous county in the United States.I supervise a team of around 15 attorneys and five paralegals who represent Harris County, Harris County agencies, and Harris County employees in state and federal civil lawsuits as well as in administrative hearings in cases ranging from state torts to federal civil rights and employment suits. We also represent the County in all appellate matters. I also maintain an active trial docket of federal and state cases including allegations of excessive force by individuals and municipal liability of the county.

I represented Harris County, Harris County agencies, and Harris County employees in state and federal civil litigation as well as in administrative matters. I handled all aspects of my cases from intake to settlement, trial or appeal. My casework was primarily focused in defending federal 1983 suits including excessive force, wrongful death, due process violations, and an assortment of other claims. I also have extensive experience defending tort cases including motor vehicle accidents and other personal injury suits as well as employment matters including wrongful termination and EEOC responses. Additionally, I filed and numerous nuisance abatement cases on behalf of the county and its citizens.

I prosecuted Medicaid and Medicare provider fraud as well as elderly exploitation and abuse cases in Houston, Texas on behalf of the Texas Attorney General and the Harris County District Attorney. My prosecutions resulted in convictions for all manner of providers for healthcare fraud including physicians, dentists/orthodontists, audiologists, counselors, nurses, durable medical equipment providers, and ambulance companies. To achieve these convictions I fostered and maintained excellent working relationships with numerous state and federal agencies as well as private healthcare corporations.
