Stan Grayson is best known these days as an automotive and yachting historian who's widely recognized for his research skills and story-telling ability. He is the author of numerous articles and is a regular contributor to WoodenBoat magazine. In June 2024, Lyons Press will publish a collection of Stan's WoodenBoat pieces entitled Boat Crazy, the collected WoodenBoat stories of Stan Grayson. Stan's last books include the definitive biography of the first man to sail solo around the world -- A Man for All Oceans, Capt. Joshua Slocum and the first solo voyage around the world, published by Tilbury House Publishers and The New Bedford Whaling Museum in 2017. Stan is also the author of A Genius at His Trade, C. Raymond Hunt and his remarkable boats.As senior editor of Automobile Quarterly magazine, Stan was responsible for the groundbreaking book Ferrari, the Man, the Machines, still recognized as a classic work about Ferrrari himself, his engineers and designers and, of course, the sports and racing cars that bear his name.Stan also spent over a decade in corporate communications and training, dealing primarily with clients in the domestic and import automobile and truck industries. His corporate film scripts earned him Golden Cassette awards from the International Television Association.Today, Stan remains involved in various book publishing activities and is open to discussion regarding potential projects and collaborations..Stan earned a BA and MA from Pennsylvania State University followed by Army service in Vietnam as an Army reporter and photographer, first with an artillery group located just below the DMZ and later at Army headquarters.
