About Stan Olson
I spent almost 40 years with the Charlotte Observer, during which I won a number of awards, including 1999 NCSPA Sportswriter of the Year. We are supposed to blow our own horns here, right?I covered four Super Bowls, a half-dozen World Series and numerous playoff games--MLB, NFL, NCAA hoops--along with two NCAA Final Fours and more NCAA basketball tournaments and bowl games than I can count. Also have covered everything from NASCAR to professional hockey.Recently I have covered NFL games for the Miami Herald, Dallas Morning News and ESPN New York, and in the past I've covered events for newspapers in Philadelphia, Boston, San Diego and Pittsburgh, among others.Specialties: Strong under deadline pressure while covering games, also capable of doing takeouts on just about any sport. Not limited to that field, though; I'm well-read and believe I can write about anything.
