As part of the Advancing Capacity for the Environment (ACE) Program team, I worked closely with USAID staff to develop communication strategies and products focused on addressing a range of global environmental challenges—from fighting climate change and enabling a circular economy to conserving biodiversity and expanding access to clean, modern energy. In addition to leading development of high-profile products for external audiences, I developed "Communications Connect," an online platform providing talking points, messaging guidance, photos, program examples and other resources for USAID communicators and technical staff working on climate and environment portfolios.

For the USAID Communications, Evidence and Learning (CEL) project, I developed communication products and provided strategic communication advice to USAID field missions and Washington operating units in the area of sustainable urban development, urban resilience, and prevention of ocean plastic pollution. I also supported the development, launch, and promotion of USAID's Climate Strategy through the Sharing Environment and Energy Knowledge (SEEK) project.

Assisted with the writing, production, and launch of the Vietnam Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) report, a policy monitoring tool that reflects citizens’ experiences with governance, public administration, and public service delivery based on a national randomized survey of over 14,000 citizens. Developed media release and speech for the UN Resident Coordinator for national promotion of the report.

Drafted, reviewed and/or edited technical reports, articles and other communication products for USAID projects in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kenya, Senegal and Vietnam, as well as for global USAID bureaus and regional offices. Worked with subject matter experts and other team members to make substantive revisions, ensuring consistency of narrative voice, technical accuracy, and adherence to USAID guidelines.

Provided communication support for USAID climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability projects. Key tasks included researching and writing case studies, editing white papers, and managing the conversion of a large website to a new content management system.

I developed and implemented a communications strategy for the USAID Low Emissions Asian Development (LEAD) program, a five-year, $21.5 million initiative promoting low-carbon economic growth in 11 developing Asian countries. My work included managing the design, content, and production of all communication materials such as fact sheets, technical reports, newsletters, videos and success stories. I built and managed three new websites and played a major role in planning, promotion, and media relations for large regional events in collaboration with partners such as the World Bank Institute, Asian Development Bank, Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment and Philippines Climate Change Commission. I also led promotion, branding and media relations for the Asia LEDS Partnership, a new regional network involving more than twenty Asian government agencies and international institutions.

Edited publications, including technical reports, policy briefs and presentations for UNFPA Viet Nam and UNFPA Bangladesh. Themes included imbalance in the sex ratio at birth, internal migration, the changing age structure of the population, sexual and reproductive health, fertility, and youth.

Developed a communications strategy and plan for the Australia-World Bank Strategic Partnership in Vietnam, and co-facilitated partnership workshop in Hanoi.

In collaboration with the very talented team in the Salt Lake City office, I managed a portfolio of projects ranging from mobile app design and development to corporate rebranding. I also wrote copy and assisted the management team with strategic planning.

Member of UN communications team supporting the Resident Coordinator, UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, and several other UN agencies in Vietnam. Wrote, edited and managed production of communication products – including policy briefs, press releases, feature articles, brochures, videos and fact sheets – to support UN initiatives and priorities in Vietnam. Worked with UN Vietnam’s climate change advisor to produce a series of climate change policy papers, fact sheets and technical reports targeting national and local government counterparts, and supported planning and media outreach for major UN events.

Advisor to the UNDP/Vietnam Public Administration Reform Master Programme, a national initiative to increase awareness and support among civil servants and the public for civil service and governance reforms.

Conducted communications audit and developed new communications strategy and plan for the Urban Environmental Management Applications Project, a five-year initiative in eight Southeast Asian countries.

Developed and managed regional activities of the United States-Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP) program in collaboration with USAID, local government agencies and private sector partners for six Southeast Asian countries.

Provided technical assistance to government counterparts and developed public-private partnerships to promote improved environmental management, policymaking, and planning in Vietnam.

Provided management support to USAID, World Bank and ADB-funded education projects in Bangladesh, Guatemala, Nepal, and Pakistan. Managed communications with donors and stakeholders, developed new project proposals, and promoted project objectives with government counterparts. Developed new training initiative for junior staff and received grant under AED’s young leaders program.

Provided communications support to the Population Activities Unit, including editing of technical reports, writing content for publications, and organizing regional conferences and trainings. Conducted analysis of migration patterns in Europe and produced content for the monthly International Migration Bulletin.

Researched and wrote technical briefs and developed marketing materials for promoting agricultural exports from developing countries. Managed USAID contracts for projects in India, Sri Lanka, Guatemala and Jordan, and conducted research in Europe, North America and Asia to identify market opportunities. Developed database of market trends for fresh fruits and vegetable imports into 20 countries and assisted with providing branding and quality control support to exporters.
