I review current development applications (site plans, civil plans, permits, rezonings, and plats) based on the Denton Development Code and Comprehensive Plan. I make recommendations including zoning, site and building design, and landscaping to applicants on how to better meet our development criteria. I coordinate with other city departments (Fire, Utilities, Engineering, Transportation, Real Estate, etc.) to understand their comments and discuss with applicants. At the end of a project’s review cycle, I present all of staff’s final recommendations to the City of Denton Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council. On administratively approved project types, I am a project manager and am the main contact person for the applicant. I coordinate meetings internally and externally and meet deadlines set by the State of Texas to provide timely reviews. I also assist the long range planning team in implementation of small area plans and neighborhood planning.

Norman, Oklahoma

The Center for Spatial Analysis is a multidisciplinary research center at the University of Oklahoma, contracted by state departments and private customers to provide geo-spatial technology assistance, database management, and educational advancement in geography. I provided database management assistance to CSA for maintaining urban growth and redistricting information for the Oklahoma Election Board and Tax Commission. I used ArcMap to digitize, edit, and match roads to county/state records and update Tax Commission tables to match 911 and Census databases. I regularly worked with Oklahoma County in updating roads per development, annexation, and district boundary changes on a monthly basis.

La Línea, Andalusia, Spain

English teacher at El Rocío (Pre-School) and IES Antonio Machado (High School) in La Línea de Concepción in Cádiz, Spain. At Antonio Machado, I taught English sections of 4 courses (tele-health, hygiene, sanitation, and home care) to 16-19 year olds on a professional, bilingual tract to become home caregivers. I independently prepared and taught beginner to intermediate level lessons over course content, grammar, phonetics, and conversational English for hour long classes. I facilitated role plays, worksheets, games, and group project assignments. I also coordinated with the teachers of the Spanish equivalents of these courses to match and supplement the course content taught in Spanish. At El Rocío, I assisted the primary English teacher in leading and preparing lessons over basic English words and phrases for children ages 3-5 years old. I used repetition, songs, games, movement, and memory games to engage students.

Norman, Oklahoma

As in intern for the Red Earth Group branch of Sierra Club, I managed membership resources and contact information by updating the database and reviewing donations. I was also responsible for creating, posting, and distributing fliers for events and meetings around town and on social media, responding to questions as they occurred. I participated in all Sierra Club and Ready for 100 meetings and events throughout the Fall semester helping Norman move to a more sustainable future. I also drafted support statements for state representative candidates in the name of the Sierra Club.
