Designed new framework modules to reduce the effort necessary to create new screens, expanding a library of visual components designed for reuse between different client projects while respecting individual client intellectual property.Designed user interfaces for new projects and contributed to design discussions. Delivered training presentations on best practices and proprietary technologies.Invented logical coordinate system for user interfaces which greatly reduced effort necessary to adapt a user-interface to differences in LCD panel resolutions. Tools designer and back-end application developer for the Bill Review engine.User interface designer and developer for the company’s core product, the StrataWare Bill Review Engine as well as internal tools used by developers, QA engineers, production engineers, compliance groups and management. Primarily used Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Development Tools, coded solutions in C# with WinForms, ported C++ code to C# and developed stored procedures for Microsoft SQL Server 2008.Implemented quality assessment tool to validate the port of C++ functionality to C#. This tool ran “test” bills which exercised specific code paths of the legacy C++ and compared these results with those produced by the new C# engine. This tool helped identify patterns in differences allowing engineering to identify root causes of defects in the new engine as well as the legacy engine when the new engine paid bills correctly but the legacy engine did not.

Sustaining engineer for Remediation Manager and Policy Auditor products. Collaborated on design issues with local member of McAfee UI Design Studio and provided technical assistance in UI mockup development. Developed C++ functionality for Linux and other Unix-like platforms using Boost libraries.

Enterprise application designer and network security developer. Developer for the Foundstone Vulnerability manager, a network security tool for Enterprise markets. Designed the user interface for the Custom Reporting Tool introduced with Foundstone version 5.0. Designed iconography and image asset changes to bring developer tools into alignment with McAfee corporate branding (Foundstone was an acquisition whose produce suite had a look & feel different from McAfee’s). Created graphical tools to facilitate development and integration testing as part of team that proved the value of Test Driven Development by creating a new product in record time with minimal defects using the CPPUnit unit test framework.

Architect, Designer and Developer for the MemoryFrame and Digi-Sign product lines, a series of LCD photo displays and signage controllers targeting consumer and commercial markets. Designed consumer-friendly image management application on own initiative, creating a superior product for managing content for the company’s LCD products.Designed Client-Server communications infrastructure for networked digital displays. Protocol used TCP and UDP communications to discover and register units on a network. Developed wireless support for communications over TCP/IP for digital displays, resulting in the first consumer photo frame with wireless communications. Co-invented a method for distributing image and video content to remote digital displays over the Internet (US Patent 11/118,009), a technology critical to digital signage displays.Presented the first digital photo album to utilize Microsoft Windows Connect Now wireless configuration technology at Microsoft's WinHEC 2004 conference.

Architect and Developer for graphical applications and utilities for consumer and technical markets.Management duties included team in Irvine and product development coordination with teams in Boulder, CO. and Taiwan. Chaired committee which drafted corporate branding documentation for end-user products. Designed promotional/interactive CD for the Code: ONE product launch, Oversaw development of internal Windows-based BIOS configuration and editing tools.Designed major elements of the PowerPanel 3.0 power management tool, including the toolbar interface which serves as the primary customer interaction point for the product. This toolbar was innovative in that it employed user interface techniques first available in the Windows 98 operating system and was launched in conjunction with the release of Windows 98. PowerPanel 3.0 shipped preinstalled on laptop computers by Sony, Toshiba, Compaq, Dell and other major manufacturers.

Designed and developed products for consumer and technical markets.Took over development from contractor and finished first edition of the Micro House Technical Library, a CD-ROM-based reference for motherboards, hard drives and video cards. Was only developer for first year of product when the it won a “Top 50 Products of the Year” award from PC Magazine in 1995. Continued developing the product through 1996.Designed the user interface for the EZ-SMART hard drive health diagnostic utility which was pre-installed on notebook computers and licensed to major hard drive manufacturers.Developed the "hypertext" online help system for the EZ-Drive hard drive installation utility which was bundled with major brand hard drives. Also developed the master boot record which loaded the company's extended drive management software into memory and invented a technique for supporting additional hard drives which gave our products a technical advantage in the hard drive installation market. Learned Portuguese in order to represent the company at COMDEX in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and continued to develop language skills to where I can now speak Portuguese fluently.
