By understanding the intent, scope, and test methods of regulatory standards, cost-effective design options become apparent.After several projects, I became positioned as a leader of the engineering department in navigating UL regulations and often collaborated with team members on resourceful and creative solutions for compliant products.DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURABILITY (DFM)"Do not create the perfect design, create the design that will work perfectly every time." To this end, I worked intimately with our in-house sheet metal fabrication shop, as well as outside vendors and fabricators to improve design robustness on the floor, and ultimately, in production. Often this was accomplished through Gemba-walks, appropriate tolerance analysis, and Poka-Yoke'd designs.ENGINEERING PROCESS DEVELOPMENTI was fortunate enough join a department with a continuous improvement mindset, and the influence to make meaningful changes.
