André Rocha began his design career with a degree in Industrial Design from Escola Superior de Design—IADE in 2003. Through his design studio, EVOL, operational from 2003 to 2017, he engaged in product design, partnering with small traditional industries, and provided design solutions for retail, exhibitions, and events for a diverse range of clients, from corporate to institutional.In 2017, André earned a Specialist degree in Product and Interaction Design from a consortium of the Polytechnic Universities of Lisbon, Leiria, and Santarém. He furthered his education by completing the Fab Academy program in 2019, enhancing his expertise in digital fabrication. André is advancing his expertise with a PhD in Digital Media at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He contributes as an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic University of Lisbon and an Invited Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic University of Santarém, teaching Design and Technology.Since 2018, he has been a pivotal figure as co-founder and scientific coordinator at Fablab Benfica (ESELx -IPL). He has led Maker Faire Lisboa as coordinator since 2018. His research focuses on the confluence of design and digital media, especially in terms of knowledge transfer and management, with a keen interest in digital fabrication's role in education and in preserving the tacit knowledge of small farming communities.
