As founder and coordinator of an annual dodgeball tournament fundraiser, I raised over $30,000 for the Zachary Bryden Shoemaker Foundation, which I created to help a friend's family with medical, travel and other costs to manage and improve their son's quality of life after a car accident left him severely brain damaged, requiring round-the-clock high-quality care and maintenance. I founded the event in 2008 and handled all aspects, including planning, development, promotion, donations, budget, volunteers, media coverage and follow-up.Once the tournament raised a comfortable amount for Zack's care, I partnered and shared profits with other local organizations that had helped Zack and kids like him, including Heinz Pediatric Rehab, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Allied Services.
