Established in 2011, Budget Energy is the third largest electricity supplier in Northern Ireland.Whilst part of the Legal & Compliance Department in Budget Energy I provided both general commercial legal and compliance advice, both as part of the in-house legal team and directly to senior management as required. I was the lead in assessing the company's requirements to suitably protecting its intellectual property, including registering and managing its trademark portfolio. I was involved in updating the company's general terms and conditions for the supply of electricity as well as drafting tariff specific terms. From a compliance perspective, I was part of the team that undertook the large project of drafting and implementing all company Codes of Practice and Policies including fair treatment of customers; data protection; fraud prevention; financial crime; HR etc. I was responsible for regularly delivering compliance training. I was also core in drafting multiple responses on behalf of the company in relation to regulatory consultations.
