Senior Advisor to the Boston Consulting Group with a focus on Healthcare and Life Sciences. 2011-17 I lead the firm's global HC Payer & Provider sector and 2017-20 it's global Health systems sector. I was named a BCG Fellow in 2010 and my research has focused on value-based health care - how transparency on health care outcomes and patient group costs will drive the transformation of health care systems. In 2012, I led BCG's co-founding of the International Consortium of Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) with Prof Michael Porter at the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School and the Prof Martin Ingvar of the Karolinska Institute. I am a frequent speaker on health care outcomes and Value Based HC and in 2013 I presented a TED.com talk on the topic, "What Doctors Can Learn from Each Other."I have worked extensively for clients across the health care industry. Specific experience includes strategy, organizational redesign, and operational effectiveness for leading Nordic university hospitals and private health care provider organizations; consultation to the pharma industry on strategy, R&D effectiveness, regulatory issues, drug safety, manufacturing, in-licensing strategy, and commercial compliance; and an extensive range of commercial due diligence projects for leading investors seeking opportunities in health care, including private providers, pharma, medtech, and biotech. Before joining BCG, I was an associate professor at the Karolinska Institute. I have published >20 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, mostly recently in Health Affairs, New England Journal of Medicine and PlusOne on the topic of value-based health care. I have a M.D. from Karolinska Institute (KI) in Stockholm. I completed my Ph.D. studies at KI and Harvard Medical School and am an Associate Professor at the Karolinska Institute since 1996.January 2021 i retired from BCG.
