The environmental impact of a hybrid offshore supply vessel is compared to a non-hybrid offshore supply vessel. For the hybrid vessel, the most common Lithium battery types (NMC, LFP and LTO) are taken into consideration.A life cycle assessment compliant to the ISO 14040 standard is used as a framework for the comparison of the environmental impact. In this assessment all relevant emissions (CO2, CO, NOx, SOx and VOC) are quantified for the applicable life cycle stages (raw material acquisition, manufacturing, production, use, transportation and disposal) and compared according the ReCiPe2016 standard. With this standard the impact of these emission can be translated into damage to human health and terrestrial ecosystems. For the use stage of the non-hybrid vessel the emissions are calculated based on actual measurements performed on the offshore supply vessel under investigation. For the hybrid vessel, additionally, manufacturer data and simulations with respect to the behaviour of the battery energy storage system are used to calculate the emissions during use. For the other stages of both the non-hybrid and the hybrid vessel, manufacturer data and databases with environmental impact information are used.

The flywheel generators will deliver energy for a short period for the use in a scientific experiment.Control of a high power thyristor rectifier by using a Siemens S7-400 PLC and a Siemens industrial PC with Windows Embedded. On the Siemens industrial PC the control functions and protocol stack are written in Visual BasicControl of a AC power supply by using an Altera FPGA. Control functions are written in VHDL and C++ on a softcore microprocessor.Control of a DC power supply for a Diesel-electric generator system for the charging of a battery system by using a Siemens S7-1200 PLC/As a green belt, done some research on how the estimation of the amount of engineering hours for a project can be improved. Weekly meetings where created with custom reports for the discussion on ongoing projects.

For a graduate project done some research on the behavior of the motor with a rotor consisting of soft ferromagnetic material during load changes. Goal was to design a control strategy and mathematical prove that this strategy will improve the behaviour during load changes.

Commisioning of installations in the area of power electronics and energyProjects:Conversion of a Windmill from running parallel on the grid to offline mode by using and PID controller for the control of the frequency by altering the blade pitch, creation of a simple power management system and commissioning of a 100 KVA UPS. The changes where implemented on an existing SattControl PLC and an external PID control unit.
