The EIB aims at supporting the predicted growth in the blue economy and ensuring that this growth is truly sustainable, leading to healthier oceans and resilient coastal ecosystems. I am coordinating blue economy activities across the Bank and contribute to establishing the Bank’s strategic approach to the blue economy; I am developing criteria for sustainable blue investments and financial products targeting investments in a sustainable blue economy.

The Natural Capital Finance Facility (NCFF) was a flagship initiative set up by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank to support and finance projects investing into conservation, restoration and management of ecosystems as well as projects applying nature-based solutions to adapt to the impacts of climate change. We supported, for example, projects in the area of eco-tourism, sustainable agricultural projects which deliver benefits to biodiversity, biodiversity-promoting forestry projects or urban green infrastructure projects.
