To explain better who I am, let me share 2 quotes I’ve heard and will not forget. 1 - A very smart old boss / company owner; “I can pay people who are smart and I can pay people who work hard but I can’t pay someone to get it.” A good thought and one of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received. 2 - A mentors advice when I was debating a leap from the apparel industry to tech; “You’ll either be an apparel industry expert with a focus on technology or a technology expert with a focus in the apparel industry.” In good part on that advice, 9 years ago I made that leap. I have helped apparel companies navigate the process of getting goods through a rigorous approval process to avoid costly delays and chargebacks. I stood up to the challenge of organizing an internal testing department to achieve supplier gold status with WalMart. I was tasked with completing this in one year and exceeded that goal by 4 months. I successfully lead my employer through a complicated but critical compliance initiative in 2008 with the introduction of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. I challenged myself to modernize the processes I inherited by finding and implementing a software solution across multiple departments. I stepped out of my comfort zone by moving to the technology side of apparel as a solutions consultant for an PLM / SCM / ERP solution. 2 years later I delivered the company a record year of enterprise sales. I grew with the software through several evolutions of framework, UI/UX, deployment models and sales methodologies. This included a shift from license to SaaS sales. I trained myself on a BI tool and built awesome dashboards which closed several major deals (my own and my coworkers) over the past few years. Along the way I fell in love with the power of analytics. I get made fun of for calling everything “interesting”, playing math games on my phone and my love of anything crafty. I took some time off to reevaluate what I want and am happy to have landed in a job that I am proud to have. I feel challenged and a part of something exciting. Looking forward to the next chapter in my career.
