Gradient is a growing team, which means that my responsibilities have shifted from pure ad-hoc client analyses to developing statistically robust research products. As head of data science, I'm responsible for managing a small team of R programmers to develop robust statistical software packages, that apply the latest market research techniques. Working closely with our research team and our clients help me understand the industry needs and standardize our product in- and outputs.

Als Trainee kreeg ik de kans om mijzelf te ontwikkelen in de wereld van Data Science & Business Analytics door een combinatie van werken en leren. Uitdagende projecten in verschillende branches staan centraal tijdens deze traineeship. De projecten worden ondersteund met een post-master opleiding Data Science in Alkmaar, gegeven door hoogleraren van de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Dit gaf mij de mogelijkheid om al lerend de Data Science wereld te ontdekken en verschillende bedrijven/instanties met een frisse blik op weg te helpen in de snel groeiende en evaluerende sector. Het doel is om als brug te fungeren tussen de aanwezige harde data en de uiteindelijke toepassingen en kansen die de data met zich mee brengt.

Every master education requires an academic thesis in order to graduate, either a self-chosen subject, or a company-defined subject. Appic, a complete event and festival application had an interesting issue - they wanted to create a system in their application to recommend future events or festivals to their userbase. My thesis consists of researching available recommendation methods, creating a suitable system and evaluating the chosen system.Additionally, I've made their database my partner for the duration. Analyzing the available data, creating data reports for event organizers, providing company insights as well as looking into new data opportunities are my main duties.
