Facilitating and co-facilitating peers support groups for parents experiencing difficulties during and after separation.Parents Beyond Breakup is a national charity working in many communities across Australia and focussing on suicide prevention in one of the most at risk demographics - separating parents.Why do we existEvery child deserves a great relationship with their parents, one that offers them the best possible start in life. We believe all mums and dads want to be the best parents that they can be, and that at times all of us struggle to live up to that expectation. We exist to help separated mums and dads deal with the practical and personal challenges that can get in the way of being the best parents they can be.How do we workWe work to make positive change happen on an individual, cultural and systemic level. We help separated mums and dads to find more effective ways to deal with their situation; we do this through our helpline, local peer support groups and other resources. We work to raise public awareness of the challenges that parents face, and to improve the way the system helps parents contribute to the upbringing of their children.The results Separated parents are connected to a community of support that they need; in doing so we help parents cope with being separated from their children and to find the optimal path to reconnecting them. 7 out of 10 parents that we work with say that we offer the best support that they have been able to find. 2016 Research shows that we helped prevent just under 240 parental suicides; that's children from nearly 240 families, in one year, that will not have lost a much loved parent.

People and cost centre management, negotiating funding, securing additional funding resources and negotiating Antarctic logistic resources in a fiscally difficult funding environment. Succesful securing additional funding to innovate and modernise our field equipment collecting first of its kind additional data.Antarctic Modernization Program - preparing and implementing an Antarctic field project with only 6 weeks notice, including development of the science component, procurement and shipping of equipment. 8 week deployment to Antarctica visiting all three Antarctic Stations Mawson, Davis and Casey.Development & organization of three international workshops engaging with various stakeholders developing new science opportunities and explore synergistic activities.Development of new research studying surface melting and mass balance in East Antarctica combing field observations, remote sensing and climate modelling, involving collaborators in China, USA, Europe and Australia.People development - providing job placement and internship opportunities.

Scientific Research, Technology Development, Principal InvestigatorProject Development and Management, Science Education and Outreach Scientific Research in the interdependency between global environmental changes and changes in Antarctica with a focus on the interaction between the ice sheet, the subglacial environment, the ocean and ice dynamics.Main Projects: FESSE - Development of Instrumentation for Exploring Subglacial Environments (NOAA, $5M, 2005-09) & West Antarctic Ice Sheet Grounding Line and Subglacial Lake Studies (Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, ~1.3M, 2009-12) Development of research instrumenation and associated workshop and research facilities at Northern Illinois University including : - an ICP-MS Clean Lab facility; - innovative borehole instrumentation for subglacial environmental montoring - insitu measurement and sample recovery incl.: a borehole deployable Remotely Operated underwater Vehicle (ROV); percussion sediment coring system; a hot water drill system and scientific traversing equipment for their deployment and assocaited workshop facilities;- an innovative approach studying subglacial hydrology combining insitu and labratory measurements with hydrological tracer modelling. ANDRILL - Deciphering Climatic Changes and ICe Sheet Evolution from a Carbonate Stratigraphy (ANDRILL, $170k, 2006-09)- On-ice science team member responsible for development and implementation of the porewater chemistry work.
