Using a variety of marketing tools and media, launched Provincial Initiative in the Algoma District Managed regional budget to accommodate volunteer training, workshops and general operating costs Through counseling supported people to identify personal /professional goals and strive to reach their full potential Provided guidance to mentors, who personally experienced an intellectual disability, to motivate others who were facing similar challenges Supported the efforts of people with intellectual disabilities to move forward the vision of community cultures where diverse abilities are respected and celebrated Actively set out to establish new opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities Worked alongside school boards, universities, artistic groups, workforce committees and many other community organizations/groups to dispel myths about the abilities of ALL people Developed policy and procedures for pilot project as a member of a provincial team Nurtured community partnerships with government bodies, school boards, family and students and various sectors of community, to reshape current policies and procedures at provincial and local levels Developed and delivered presentations to Ministry’s, school boards, post-secondary institutions, family groups, community agencies, self-advocate groups, students, educators and employers
