Mojave Desert Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that protects the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resources. MDLT has conserved and protected over 80,000 acres of land in the Mojave Desert since 2006.My goal was to raise public awareness of environmental science and policy issues and to support MDLT's landscape conservation efforts. In support of this goal, I wrote MDLT's public comment letters to federal and state agencies as part of the NEPA/CEQA process; produced the organization's 2018 annual report using ArcGIS Story Maps; created content for MDLT's social media accounts, which have over 10,000 followers. Additionally, I managed a subgroup within a desert-wide coalition that wrote a community proposal for a national monument management plan. The plan is a grassroots initiative to provide public land management direction based on community collaboration and current science.I also managed contracts, and I participated in landscape restoration, fieldwork, site assessments, native plant and seed bank activities, volunteer management, and fundraising events.

As a Research Assistant for a National Science Foundation project titled "Community Reactions to Extreme Weather Events," I independently conducted 28 semi-structured interviews in Boulder, Colorado, and Staten Island, New York; analyzed over 2,000 newspaper articles, assisted with the development of a survey, and wrote case study reports regarding community mobilization and policy changes following extreme weather events. The data contributed to several scientific journal publications.
