- One of the designers of the SQL OS abstraction layer in SQL 2005, which included a high performing, scalable component that works on different hardware configurations (such as NUMA) and can be tested independently of the database engine. This layer abstracted memory management, thread scheduling, synchronization, I/O processing, deadlock detection and exception handling. Led a cross-group diagnostic effort to implement the Dedicated Admin Connection (DAC) in SQL 2005.- Assisted with development lead duties, mentoring junior members of the team, and liaising with product support (CSS)- Authored the chapter on SQLOS and Scheduling in the SQL Server 2005 Practical Troubleshooting book.- For SQL 2000, worked on improving the scalability of the user mode scheduler (UMS) on large multiprocessor machines and network throughput in client-server communication in database benchmarks. Also extended deadlock monitor to detect and resolve thread deadlocks.

- Implemented INSTEAD..OF triggers for SQL 2000- Key work done in SQL 7.0 included redesigning the T-SQL execution framework, implementing the INSERT..EXEC logic to make it extensible, implementing new data type support for Tabular Data Stream (TDS) protocol and preserving backwards compatibility for older clients, and driving performance for a key customer test workload to exceed shipping criteria.
