Over thirty years of experience of academic research and innovation, government policy work, and independent consultancy in ICT, especially telecommunications, cloud based large data processing, storage and network programming systems and EU common data spaces. Solid background in technical management, consulting, and strategic planning. Extended experience in optical networking WANs, DWDM, FTTH, state-of-the-art infrastructure projects, analysis of strategic plans/proposals for large state interventions in broadband like the first Greek national broadband strategy. Due diligence procedures in mergers& acquisitions. Municipal metropolitan area fiber networks. Public condominium/ IRU based networks, wireless hot-spots, charging schemes billing systems content provision fixed mobile. Actively involved in various national broadband initiatives, working groups and policy fora. Μanager (and one of the creators) of FORTHnet (responsible for the setup, management, technical design and nationwide deployment, development to commercial network, legal and marketing issues, market creation. Visiting assistant professor at the Dept. of Computer Science of the University of Crete where he taught graduate courses in Distributed Systems, High performance Networks: architecture and management, and Networks technology. Contributed with results from his work to several standards committees , member of technical and organization committees of international conferences, consultant to the EU Commission (directorate DGXIII) both as an evaluator of pre-competitive proposals and reviewer of research projects, and as the national representative for the EOSC Governance Boar, for the program “Structuring the European Research Area”, and for the program Horizon Europe - ‘Research Infrastructures’. Member of the informatics sectorial scientific council of the Greek National Council for Research and Innovation.
